A Blog is Born

Today is a special day. I’m finally doing something I’ve said I’d do for a long time – I’m starting a blog. I have lots of ideas, not sure what will make it to the site, but I’m fortunate to have an outlet to share.
Writing is something I started doing very early in my life. I wrote my first “book” in 4th grade and have written numerous stories and poems since. During my stint in public affairs, I wrote news and feature stories and crafted messages to educate and inform.
In recent years, I’ve started dabbling with fan fiction. I’m a huge Chris Evans fan, and I have a great time creating stories for his many characters. I also aspire to write some children’s books that hopefully my grandkids would enjoy.
The biggest part of this project is a podcast. In a few weeks, I’ll be launching recordings I’ve made with friends, family, and acquaintances that I hope you’ll enjoy. The premise of my podcast is pretty simple – I love talking to people and hearing their stories. Some conversations will entertain and some will inform. I hope you find them enjoyable and maybe walk away with some new knowledge.
I also want to use the podcast to share my thoughts on the medium I engage with most – books and music. I love discussing both with friends and family, and I find myself finding those conversations on other podcasts.
In order to enhance the book conversations, I’ll start a book club that all readers can join. We’ll set aside a time each month to live chat about the book, and we’ll consider suggestions for our next read.
I also look forward to sharing stories about my friends and family. I grew up in Southern Illinois (about 70 miles east of St. Louis), and my very best friend and I have known each other since Kindergarten! I hope to record special editions of the podcast with my bestie so we can reminisce about growing up in the 70s in a small Midwest town. She and I have traveled different roads during the years, but we’ve always maintained our connection. Now that we’re both retired, it will be fun to chat with her regularly on the podcast.
Thanks for reading!
