Book Review- "Sky Daddy" by Kate Folk

TGIF, fellow readers! It's time for another episode of The Happy Meemaw Reads, and y'all better buckle up, because this week is a good one.

A couple of months ago, my daughter-in-law Kelsey suggested we read a book together. She gave me the title, and as we were chatting, I looked it up on Goodreads and read the synopsis. It began "Subversive and unexpectedly heartwarming" and went on to say, "Linda knows that she can't tell anyone she's sexually obsessed with planes - nor can she reveal her belief her destiny is to 'marry' one of her suitors by dying in a plane crash."

What?

My initial reaction was to take a hard pass, but then I thought about how happy I am that Kelsey is my daughter-in-law and that we both have a love of reading, and that you can't judge a book by its synopsis, and I agreed. I'm so glad I did.

Author Kate Folk has created a very good story about a variety of broken humans who trudge through life and all its complications, but work to better themselves in lots of different ways. Yes, Linda has a weird kink, but in the grand scheme of things, it just sort of blends in with everyone else's issues.

I'm so glad I read this book. It is full of rich characters, troubled and yet normal, and a story with a twisty ending you won't see coming. I recommend it to all and personally think this would be a great book club book - it will spark some lively conversation.

I'm joined in the review with Kelsey by my lovely niece Shaelynn as we pull apart the strands of this interesting story. As always, there are spoilers, so please keep that in mind as you enjoy our review.
