Inspiration to create can come from the darnedest places. I recently had the absolute pleasure of chatting with Chad Boxley - poet, artist, and educator, but most of all, a lifetime lover of pro wrestling.
When the Caroline County native was pursuing his Master's degree, he leaned into that love and produced "Turnbuckle," a collection of poems partially inspired by the glitz and drama in the squared circle. For those in the know, John Cena, who you may know only from his acting credits, created a stir at Capital One Arena last Saturday when he officially retired from the WWE after years on the circuit. Cena was a crowd favorite, and frankly, an all-around good man, who can count Chad among his biggest fans.
More importantly though, Chad is now lending his knowledge and talents to students in two local juvenile detention centers. We discussed the importance of the arts in all educational settings, and how his students find solace in the time they spend with him.
I look forward to having Chad back on the podcast soon, and I hope you enjoy our conversation. Thanks, Chad, for all you do!
Thanks for listening!
