Hurricane Season

Updated: Jun 16

For those of you that enjoyed Wednesday's post with Rob Fagan, Emergency Manager extraordinaire (and Happy Meemaw wedding best man), we touched a little on hurricanes. The first hurricane of the 2025 season formed in the Pacific Ocean this week, and the season, which officially began on June 1 and runs until November 1, is predicated to have several active hurricanes.

I have experienced more than one hurricane of extreme intensity, as well as tropical storms that hit harder than most would expect. One of those hurricane experiences was as a homeowner, a game changer that truly makes you consider how to protect what you have from forces beyond your control.

And while hurricanes famously wreck out areas close to our coasts, many get caught up in the weather that spins off of these intense storms. This is a great listen to give you some ideas of how to prepare and face a hurricane season with less stress. As always, find ways to involve your whole family, especially your kids and grandkids. It's never to early to learn to be prepared.

If you haven't listened to Wednesday's podcast about disaster preparedness, please take some time to do so.
