I was born and raised in Southern Illinois and was enthralled with Virginia when the Navy brought us here many years ago. As we'd traverse I-64 through the state, I'd think how lucky Virginians are to live in such a beautiful state.
When we settled east of Fredericksburg after my husband retired, we loved that our permanent location was a couple of hours from the mountainsand from Virginia Beach, and in the cradle of much of American history. And just around the corner from our home is the lovely little town of Colonial Beach, boasting the second-longest shoreline in Virginia and home to great restaurants, unique shops, and an arts culture with galleries and theater productions. And in the middle of town, a couple of blocks from the Potomac River, is the gorgeous Riverview Inn. Its throwback style draws you in, and the care and detail in each room make you stay.
Riverview Inn owner Kelly Woods Vaughn is my guest on today's podcast, and I loved hearing the story of how her family acquired the inn and turned it into a gorgeous attraction with the comforts of home. Lots of us have dreams of owning our own business and using our creative style to draw people in. Kelly is living that dream.
